"Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." - Mark 11:23-24
He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. - James 5:16Our prayer is given power through faith. The power to heal and guide you on your path as well as others. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7). There have been many occasions where I have asked or sought out clarity from the Lord and I received. Most recently I've prayed about what Bible I should buy and after researching online and visiting a local Christian bookstore I ended up buying one I was drawn to get. I skimmed KJV, NLT, as well as various other translations and most were out of my price range then I found the ESV Bibles (admittedly I was searching for the ESV Study Bible). I bought the MacArthur Study Bible (ESV) which I was immediately drawn to purchase and it just so happened to fit snugly within my budget.
Now here is the kicker. The Lord knew I had been on the prowl for a new Bible before I had the money to get one and He had blessed me with exactly $50 which upon receipt I was immediately pouring over potential investments when out of nowhere it hit me: I had been searching for a Bible where before I did not have the means to purchase one, now I do. My mind was made up and now I needed guidance and I picked a local Christian bookstore and allowed the Holy Spirit to help me choose which one I should get. He did not disappoint. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find! I may not have moved any physical mountains but it felt pretty significant to me. I've found, through prayer, that if you seek Him you will always find and if you ask for Him you will always receive. That is the first steps you can take in becoming the righteous person with great power in Him to heal and to move those mountains! I pray to receive such an honor by the grace of God.
My current prayers rest on becoming a member of and locating a local church. I have no doubt in my heart that He will deliver I simply must be receptive to His communication with me so that I don't miss it. I pray for guidance and discernment or a sign and the ability to read it. A sign can often be subtle but you always feel accomplished when that bell dings in your head and you realize that this is it.
Prayer is a wonderful way to commune with God and seek guidance from Him as well as providing the added benefit of further developing a relationship with Him which is really what it is all about; growing closer to God.
Fun Fact: I prayed and asked God what I should blog about in this post. Stumbled on a verse about prayer in my new Study Bible Mark 11:23-24 and here we are. God bless!
Tyler, I am enjoying reading and learning from your thoughts. Seeking the face of God will never disappoint as He desires a close, intimate relationship with each of us, His children. When we ask, we indeed will receive according to God's plan for us...the difficulty can be that we miss 'it' because it may look, feel, or be very different from what we expected. When we seek His face, we must come openly and expectantly but we must approach Him in a cleansed state with open hands ready to receive His best for us.
ReplyDeleteMay God continue to shine His face upon you and your journey into His perfect will for your life.
Thank you! Indeed, I've learned that the only way to see His signs is to not hold on to expectations but hold on to Him and He will open your eyes to them. That is when we began to see how deeply God really is involved in our lives! We are often too wrapped up in ourselves and we miss out on the true beauty in any given situation.
